Cavigelli and Käppeli retire from contest sport

Gian-Luca Cavigelli, a 23-years-old member of the Swiss National Big Air team, will focus on his architecture studies at the ETH Zurich.

The winner of the 2010 Seoul Big Air World Cup (photo: Oliver Kraus), who also placed second in London and Barcelona as well as finishing in the runner-up position in the 2010 Big Air World Cup ranking, hasn't been able to enter any contests after having been forced to undergo a surgery.

Cavigelli had suffered an injury of his right knee at the Denver Big Air in January 2011.

Davos resident Mario Käppeli in contrary will leave his spot in the A-squad of the Swiss team to concentrate more on photo and film shootings.

„My sponsors are willing to help me fulfilling my dream of shooting in the backcountry. So, I have to grab that oppurtnity and leave Swiss-Snowboard“, the 23-years-old said.
