Eva Samkova on fire

After having clinched her career's first at the season's last Snowboard Cross World Cup staged in Blue Mountain, Canada, it seems Eva Samkova is still hungry for more.

At the women's qualifiers for the Sochi 2014 Winter Games rehearsal World Cup, which also saw some tough weather conditions with snow fall and fog, the 19 years-old from Vrchlabi posted the fastest time 1:25.70 minutes thus beating her strong international competitors by far.

2013 FIS Snowboard World Championships Silver medalist Dominique Maltais (CAN, 1:26.74 - photo) finished in second, 1.04 seconds behind while reigning Olympic and World Champion Maelle Ricker (CAN, 1:27.38) was more than 1.50 seconds behind sitting in third.

Belle Berghuis (NED, 1:28.71) brought home her career's best time trials result and will thus lead the fourth heat of the women's final featuring the top-24 girls of today.

The knock out heats are scheduled for Sunday, Feb 17, at 11:30 AM (8:30 MEZ).

Eurosport 2, MCS (FRA) and RAI Sport 2 (ITA) as well as universalsports.com will broadcast the finals live.
