Getting psyched for Telluride – ITV with Nate Holland

Nate, you will kick off your season in your home country. Is this something special for you? What is your goal for the first race?

Nate Holland: I'd love to kick off the season with a win right now for many reasons. One, I love to win no matter where I am. Two, an American has never won a WC in Telluride, and it would be rad to be the first, because I know it's going to happen, so it might as well be me. Three, the US Ski Team has exploded onto the season with recent wins and I'd love to represent for US Snowboarding. Four, I love to win.

What do you love about Telluride?

What I like most about Telluride is the mountains, they always have early snow, or at least they blow a lot of snow for the course. And everyone in Telluride are so nice and easy to work with, thanks Elizabeth!

However, Telluride is on high altitude. How do you cope with it? Does it affect you or your riding?

The altitude in Telluride really doesn't affect my riding. I'm in great shape this season, I took the pre season by the balls in the gym and am feeling great. If anything I love racing in Colorado and have won my fair share of races in this state.

What else have you done during summer?

This Summer was great. My brother Pat and I were in our second year of Action Water Sports, our wakeboard waterski school. So I spent a lot of time on the water. This Fall I buckled down and got into shape in the gym while enjoying mountain biking and fly fishing on the side. I also got a week in Maui recently to keep up on my surfing.

Who do you expect on the podium for Telluride?

I have no idea who will be on the podium in Telluride, I think I have a good chance. Many of my teammates are riding really well right now, so a US sweep is what I'm looking for.

A podium for you in Telluride – what are your other goals for the season?

My goals for the season would include taking back my X Games Title, raising my podium percentage of 50% from last year, and learning some new skills to keep on the top of the SBX progression.
