Kelly Clark meets expectations Torah Bright doesn't

Kelly Clark underlined today why she has been on top of women's snowboarding over the past decade and thus is once again the one to beat.

In the qualifiers for the season's first halfpipe World Cup held at Cardrona Alpine Ski Resort, the 2002 Olympic Gold medalist dominated the superpipe with some massive air time.

The 29-years-old stomped a clean run consisting of a frontside air, backside 540 mute, frontside 720, cab 720 and a stalefish to finish things off.

The halfpipe veteran thus earned the highest score of the day: 84 points.

In the second heat, best qualifier Sophie Rodriguez was awarded with 81.33 points for a frontside air to backside 540 indy, air to fakie, cab 720, frontside 720 melon and a cab 360 mute.

In addition, Queralt Castellet (ESP) and Haruna Matsumoto (JPN) also made it straight to the finals scheduled for Sunday 12 PM.

They will be joined by reigning World Champion Holly Crawford (AUS) and 2006 Olympic Champion Hannah Teter (USA) who both edged off Yuki Furihata (JPN), Kaitly Farrington (USA), 2010 Olympic Champion Torah Bright (AUS) and Shuang Li (CHN) in the semi finals.
