Kreiner and Fischnaller top qualifiers in PGS race

While the freestyle snowboarders dropped in the pipe, also the race boarders had their first real contact with the 2014 Olympic venue.

In the “Extreme Park” at Rosa Khutor, the parallel giant slalom qualifiers were on the program at 9 AM local time (6 AM CET) with Marion Kreiner (AUT) and Roland Fischnaller (ITA) coming out first of the qualification and elimination round.

The Austrian 2010 Olympic Bronze medalist posted a total time of 1:53.96 min and was thus three hundredths faster than two time 2013 World Championships Bronze medalist Amelie Kober (GER).

On the men's side, last Parallel World Cup leader Roland Fischnaller was the only one to beat the 1:46 mark in a total time of 1:45.77.

Kreiner and Fischnaller thus lead the best 16 women and men into the finals taking place today at 2 PM local time (11 AM CET).
