Markus Schairer still optimistic to start at Olympics
Markus Schairer has won three World Cups so far

After reigning SBX World Champion and snowboard cross World Cup title holder Markus Schairer was involved in a horrifying accident at the x-games last Saturday, Austria's medal hope is confident to be able to start on the course where he won the World Cup last winter as he said so in an interview with well-known contest speaker Chisi Speckle.

Markus, you are back in Austria - how are you doing?
Markus Schairer: I'm pretty fine. I'm happy to be back. And I hope that I recover quickly within the next days and that I'm able to start in Vancouver.

What is the final diagnosis after the last medical check done by Dr. Schenk in Schruns?
We did some x-rays of the rips. Three of them are broken, two are partially fractured. But it's not tragic; everything is still where it belongs. It's looking good for the Olympics. I might be in pain but even a crash wouldn't do any worse.

What are you up to the next days?
As hopes for the Olympics are still there, I will stay in bed for the next seven days. I might do some cycling in order to do something. On February 8th we are leaving for Vancouver. On the 15th it's competition day. I think I will skip training hoping that I can do the rest with my routine.
