While the national qualifiers for the up-coming Olympics are in full swing there are a few riders who have decided to strap on the board again and get back to business. One of them was Manuela Laura Pesko in the halfpipe contest at Kreischberg yesterday.
Another lady who is keen to tackle the World Cup courses again is Doresia Krings celebrating a comeback on the slope where she ended her career almost exactly one year ago - in Bad Gastein. The training sessions of the Austrian rider, who has earned three World Championships medals and took home eleven World Cup wins in her more than ten years lasting career, went pretty fine until three days ago when some problems with her back occurred. "This is not good for my start which is pretty important for Snowboard Cross. I don't know where the pain is coming from but I hope that everything will be OK for the race" the 32-years-old said.
The Obertauern resident however did six runs in Bad Gastein during today's training session for the season's fourth Snowboard Cross. In tomorrows' time trials Krings will face the world's elite on the slope of Buchebenskiwiese. With US-girl Lindsey Jacobellis (2004, 2008 and 2009), Dominique Maltais from Canada (2006) and Switzerland's Sandra Frei (2009) and Mellie Francon (2006) as well as Deborah Anthonioz from France (2003) all female winner will enter the course.
The same is for the men's. Xavier Delerue (FRA, twice in 2003 and once in 2009), Canada's Tom Velisek (2004) and Drew Neilson (2006) as well as Austria's hopeful Mario Fuchs (2006 and 2008) are ready to go.
