Icy big air qualifiers go down in Quebec City

Today did not only see the majestic triumph of Spencer O'Brien (CAN) in the women's slopestyle finals as well as an impressive run by Roope Tonteri to claim the slopestyle World Championships title but also some in-city big air action.

Staged between two highways, right were it took place the last couple of years, Quebec hosted the big air World Championships qualifiers.

In icy, fridge-like conditions, only 23 riders went for their chance for Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Currently, their are six men with the best starting positions as they directly qualified for the finals as one of the top-3 of their heats:

Seppe Smits (BEL), who earned the top score of the night (89.25), slopestyle Gold and Silver medalists Roope Tonteri (FIN) and Mark McMorris as well as Tor Lundstrom (SWE), Alexey Sobolev (RUS) and Martin Mikyska (CZE).

Eleven riders will compete for the remaining six final spots tomorrow afternoon.
