It has been a premiere last Saturday, when the race against cancer took place for the first time. Hundreds of cyclists including Swiss snowboard team members Roland Haldi, retired Marc Iselin as well as Kaspar Flütsch and Nevin Galmarini, took part tackling the old mountain pass road between Airolo and the Gotthard pass.

It's a special race as everybody is asked to pedal as much as one can within twelve hours, up and down, at the Gotthard pass. It's a task which sums up the battles and struggles for life cancer patients have to fight through every day.

All participants unify the idea of comforting affected people true to the motto "never give up!"

According to this, the race boarders mastered the pass twelve times, up and down. "The conditions weren't the best. At the peak it was cold and wet, but it was OK," said Roland Haldi after their tough work which started at 7 AM.
