Swiss snowboarding team optimistic for new season

With the Olympic Qualifying period having kicked off beginning of July the focus of Swiss Snowboarding is totally on Sochi 2014.

The main event on the road to the first ever Russian Winter Olympics is the 2013 FIS Snowboard World Championships which take place at Stoneham and Quebec City, Canada, next January.

According to a press mailing, the Swiss team is on target due to several successful winter training camps so far.

Franco Giovanoli, head of Swiss Snowboard said: “We had outstanding summer camps and due to the on-snow camps done right now on the Swiss glaciers we are ready for next winter!”

Having a strong freestyle and race board rooster in the backhand the Swiss team is hoping for the big shot at the next FIS Worlds.

A total of three 2011 Worlds Silver medals have to be defended. In addition, the coaching stuff also hopes for some top results in the new World Cup season which however features only one stop on home turf.

Arosa will host a parallel giant slalom and one snowboard cross race March 9 and 10.
