Telluride finals to be raced in heats of 4

In today's team captain's meeting, coaches as well as the world's best riders, officials and local Organisers discussed how to race the finals of the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup race in Telluride, CO.

Although the original plan was to send the riders in heats of six men in the finals scheduled for Friday 1 PM local time, the jury decided to go with heats of four.

Following the vote of the majority of the top 16 ranked men and women of the last season's standings, the call was clearly for safety of the athletes.

While some parts, especially the top section until turn #2, could easily fit six snowboarders in action-packed head-to-head duels, the lower part doesn't seem to provide enough space to pass.

Due to the given snow situation there was no chance to build the course wider.
