Women's halfpipe Park City - USA vs China

The qualifiers for the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix staged in Park City, Utah, on Jan 30 and Feb 1 has brought a final which is a first in World Cup history.

Never before have the top-6 women to compete in a FIS Snowboard World Cup halfpipe contest final represented only the US-American and Chinese flag.

While veteran Kelly Clark (USA) had won qualifier heat 1 of the season's third halfpipe World Cup with 90.60 points and thus with a comfortable lead on runner-up Jiayu Liu (CHN, 85.60), newly crowned FIS Snowboard World Champion Arielle Gold (USA, 84.30) did so in heat two with fellow country woman Ellery Hollingsworth (USA, 80.30) also advancing directly to the finals.

In the semi finals and thus the battle for the last two remaining spots, it was Kaitlyn Farrington (USA, 85.75) and Zhifeng Sun (CHN, 78.50) to complete the finals scheduled for Friday, Feb 1, at 11 MT (7 PM CET).
