VENUE DESCRIPTION

The 2009 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup witnessed the birth of the UK's biggest ever winter sport and music festival, the Freesports on 4 FREEZE sponsored by LG. This three days lasting festival also known as London Freeze drew a huge crowd to Battersea Power Station at the inaugural event in 2008 making sure that the FIS sanctioned World Cup event would come back year to the South London site the next years again.

Ever since, the big air show has been a highlight event of the world wide tour attracting ten thousands of spectators eacht time to the sole stop of the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup on British soil, where a 32 metres high jump is accompanying the iconic towers of Battersea Power Station on the London skyline.

In order to guarantee a high-class big air performance of the world's best riders, 500 tons of artificial snow are produced to transform the venue into a winter sport village. The biggest ever created big air jump in the UK forms the central hub of the competition. The overall length from the top of the jump to the landing strip is 110m, with a 17m table top drop from which competitors from around the globe are showcasing their talents.
