Spain's most advanced resort which installed its first mechanical ski lift in 1943 has 61km of slopes to offer. In addition, La Molina also provides two halfpipes (including the first one in the Pyrenees) and two snowparks which have been the key to some Catalan rider's career within the Spanish team.
16 lifts bring snow enthusiast on top of 53 different slopes where 444 snow cannons make sure that enough snow is available on 27km if Petrus doesn't send down enough of the precious white snowflakes. In addition, the future will bring a major project: By integrating Alp 2500 - a pass which connects the resort of La Molina and Masella - one of the Pyrenees' biggest surfaces will be available for winter sports. 133km of terrain will be attractive for everyone nearby.
Due to the perfect conditions at site, the resorts dedication to the sport and with a long history in organising many events, La Molina hosted its first ever Snowboard FIS World Cup in 2008 with two parallel races making the resort the second ever to stage a World Cup competition in Spain. In 2009, one PGS, one snowboard cross and one halfpipe competition took place - the prelude to what was still to come.
In 2010, the World Cup finals will take place being the perfect and last test for the 9th Snowboard FIS World Championships in 2011. |
