Nendaz is located in the heart of the Valais region on a plateau overlooking the Rhone valley and offering a breathtaking panoramic view over the Alps. This wonderful scenery is amplified by an incredible amount of sunshine, the region is known for being the sunniest one in Switzerland. The amount of sunshine in Nendaz can be compared to the amount of sunshine on the French Riviera!
In the heart of the ‘4 Vallées' ski domain
In addition, Nendaz is located in the heart of one of the biggest ski domains in Europe, the ‘4 Vallées'. With this fantastic situation Nendaz offers 412 km of ski runs and 92 ski lifts. Nendaz' ski domain, unique and varied, ranges in altitude from 1'400m to 3'330m. Most of the ski runs are at over 1700m in altitude and those leading back to the resort are equipped with artificial snow canons (over 60 in Nendaz), which guarantee high quality snow conditions from mid-December to mid-April.
A wide variety of skiing
The ski domain is vast and extremely varied. From the experienced sportsmen and women on the Mont-Fort slopes to the beginner hills on the frozen lake of Tracouet, everybody can find what they are looking for with runs adapted to their riding skills.
With this variety in mind, the first ever World Cup race in Nendaz was organised January 2006. From there on, the resort was part of the World Cup calendar hosting a parallel slalom every season - expect of the 2008/2009 winter. In 2010, the first ever parallel giant slalom will take place. |
