One of the most impressive places to ever host an in-city World Cup was the city centre of Seoul.
Located at 126 59' E and 37 34' N, the heart of the Korean Peninsula was the second Asian metropolis which organised a big air World Cup (with Sapporo as first in 2002). And the mixture of ancient places, old-world architecture as well as modern design made this high level snowboard competition an event no-one ever will forget.
Korea's capital held the 2010 fourth big air on the Gwanghwamum square, right in the middle of an twelve lanes big street with Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the right and the Sejongno Park on the left hand side.
The impressive skyline of Seoul where more than 10,000,000 people live, a quarter of the countries' total population, was the breathtaking urban back drop scenery for both, 50,000 spectators along the sidewalks and the riders coming from all over the world. |
