VENUE DESCRIPTIONNestled in a box canyon surrounded by majestic, 13,000-foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains, the Town of Telluride is filled with colourful legends, over a century of history and Rocky Mountain spirit.
Just six blocks wide and twelve blocks long, the National Historic District is a window into the town's illustrious past and a showcase of spirited individualism and community pride.
However, the most athletes don't experience the nice little town in the valley (well, until the very last day of the World Cup stop and according to this, the party) as they are mainly accommodated in the Mountain Village - the ultimate mountain retreat with direct access to the ski area.
The Telluride Ski Resort offers a genuine mountain experience for all levels of skiers thanks to a mix of quality terrain at all points on the mountain.
From refined groomed runs to challenging bumps, there truly is something for everyone. Even beginners and intermediates can ride to the highest peaks and enjoy terrain and views typically reserved for the experts, who can enjoy the backcountry due to an easy access.
No wonder that the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup grabbed the chance when it opened to stage the first ever World Cup at Telluride. A boardable terrain of 2000+ acres, a total of 115 trails with „Galloping Goose" as longest run (7.4 km) and an average annual snowfall of 789 centimetres, the village offered everything to host a perfect World Cup stop.
In the 2011/2012 season, it's time to come back again for three races, a pgs, a sbx and a sbx team challenge.
