VENUE DESCRIPTIONYongpyong will be the third ever Korean resort to host a World Cup competition after Sungwoo and Seoul started things off in 2005 and 2009 respectively. Due to the fact that the resort, which is located about 3 hours from Seoul (approximately 215 km) in the Balwang Mountains, was a candidate for the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Winter Games (but missing out to Vancouver and Socchi), it was a matter of fact to welcome this 1975 „born" Korean winter sport Mecca. Unsurpassed natural surroundings, abundant snowfall and an excellent snow quality will be the base for two competitions part of the Speed World Cup held in early February 2011. |
